A look at the game

Plan a route, walk it, and turn what you find into a camp that keeps growing.

  • The exploration map of Terra Incognita, with a route drawn from the base camp through misted tiles toward a landmark, and a step counter showing the progress.

Draw your route across the map, tile by tile.

  • A freshly revealed jungle area in Terra Incognita, showing its landmark name and the wood, stone, food and samples it produced.

Every area you reveal hands out resources.

  • The base camp screen of Terra Incognita with three daily challenges, a running kitchen upgrade, map statistics and the logbook.

Your camp, your daily goals, your logbook.

  • A widely revealed map in Terra Incognita, showing many different landscapes in green, blue and brown across hundreds of tiles.

A continent nobody else will ever see.

What awaits you

Explore an unknown world

Your real steps reveal a continent that appears on no map. Every player discovers a different world. Your map is yours alone.

Gather resources

Every revealed area gives you resources: wood, stone, food, and rare samples. No step is wasted.

Build your base camp

Invest your resources in buildings. Upgrade your sawmill, research new technologies, and unlock new landscapes on the map.

Set up outposts

Build a depot on ground you have revealed. It gathers resources while you are away, and you collect it by walking a route back over it.

New goals every day

Three daily challenges, from walking steps to finding a secret. Complete all three and your streak grows, with rewards at every milestone.

Discover secrets

Landmarks, hidden secrets, and ancient ruins are waiting to be found. The surprise comes when you reveal them.

Fill your research journal

Every find gets a name and a page in your catalog. Each landscape is a chapter of species to complete, and the mystery of this continent lives in what you document.

Earn your Expedition Rank

Back home, a scientific society keeps a ledger on you. Every find and every camp earns medals across four explorer roles, and lifts a single rank from lowly Ship's Boy to Honorary Fellow of the Society. Recognition you walk your way to, never buy.

How it works

1

Open the map

You are standing somewhere out there. Look at the mist and spot the landscapes at the edge of your world.

2

Draw your route

Tap out your way tile by tile: straight through the mist, or the cheap way around over ground you know. You see the cost in steps before you commit.

3

Get outside

Your real steps count. Walk, hike, or run. Every step counts for your route, your building, and your outpost at the same time.

4

Reveal & collect

Once you have walked it, everything on your route is revealed and hands out resources. You end up where the route ended, ready for the next one.

A world full of secrets

A continent that shouldn't exist. Plants grow in geometric patterns, animals behave unnaturally calm, and everywhere you find ruins of a vanished civilization. Your mission: map, document, understand.

8 unique landscapes

From dense jungle to volcanic terrain to overgrown ruins: each landscape has its own atmosphere and resources. Three are free from the start, and you unlock all eight in the full version.

Rare landmarks

Named places like the "Shattered Obelisk" or the "Echo Grotto", each with a large resource find.

Hidden secrets

Roughly one area in seven holds a secret. Invisible in the mist. The surprise comes when you reveal it.

Infinite map

No edges, no boundaries. As long as you walk, there's always more to discover.

Your base camp

Classic browser game feeling: clear buildings, straightforward upgrades, strategic decisions. Every building has a real effect on your explorations, and one walk pushes your route, your upgrade, and your outpost forward at the same time.

Camp

Sawmill, quarry, kitchen, and storehouse: improve your resource finds and storage capacity.

Research

Navigation station and laboratory: unlock new landscapes and improve your chances of rare finds.

Fair & Transparent

No pay-to-win. No subscription. A game that unfolds through movement, not through payment.

Questions before you start

Do I need GPS, and do I have to stare at my phone while walking?
No to both. Terra Incognita counts steps, not locations, so your phone stays in your pocket. Nothing is recorded about where you go, only how many steps you took. Plan a route in the app, go outside, and open it again later.
Do my steps still count when the app is closed?
Yes. Your phone keeps counting on its own, and when you open the app every step since the start of your expedition is added. Nothing is lost. On iPhone the app also imports steps in the background and can notify you when something finishes. If you swipe the app away, or while your phone is locked, iOS holds that background update back until you unlock and open it again. Your steps are still safe either way.
Is there an Android version?
Android is currently in a closed beta that you can join from this page. It reads steps through Health Connect, which is a hub rather than a step source of its own. If it shows zero steps, connect a source like Google Fit or Samsung Health to Health Connect and allow Terra Incognita to read steps.
What does it cost, and is there a subscription?
The game is free and there is no subscription and no advertising. Free players get three landscapes, the whole camp, outposts without limits, daily challenges, and no limit on how far they walk. The full version is a single purchase for 6.99 euro and adds five more landscapes plus the research buildings. Nothing about it is pay-to-win, walking is never blocked.
Does everyone play the same map?
No. Every player gets a different continent, with its own landscapes, landmarks and secrets. Your map is yours alone, and it has no edge: as long as you keep walking, there is more of it.
How much time does it take per day?
Opening the app once or twice a day is enough. Steps count for your expedition, your building upgrade, and your outpost at the same time, so there is nothing to assign and nothing to micromanage. A building upgrade runs over days, so missing one is not a setback.
